Artists Guilford Art League 63rd Annual Juried

Artists Sebastopol Center for the Arts invites
artists living in the United States to submit work to Mapworks:
the Map as Art. We are looking for art which references maps
and mapmaking. This may be done directly or indirectly, metaphorically,
or conceptually. The terrain may be (but is not limited to)
geographic, psychological, political, historical, cultural,
mathematical, imaginary, or personal. All media is acceptable,
including installation. Video and film should be submitted
as a DVD in loops no longer than four minutes; selected artists
will need to supply their own equipment for display. Juror:
Kim Anno is a painter, bookmaker, collaborator and Professor
and Chair of Painting at the California College of the Arts,
San Francisco. Her advocacy of the arts has enjoined her talents
as curator, artist-in-residence, juror, lecturer, and interviewer.
In addition, her diverse practice has led her into important
collaborations with writers, visual and performance artists.

Artists M’DOR L’DOR Exhibition
& Auction, Jewish Community Center of Greater New Haven,
Woodbridge CT - February 24-March 24, 2011. The Jewish Community
Center of Greater New Haven is issuing a Call for Artists
for an exhibition with a theme based on the word play of the
translation of the Hebrew "Dor", which means "Generation"
- and the common phrase "from Generation to Generation."
Artists are asked to incorporate a door, or a part of a door,
(any door - big or little) into their work, while addressing
the overall theme. The "Doors" exhibition at the
Jewish Community Center in the Greater New Haven area is not
limited to Jewish artists or to Jewish content. There is no
fee to enter, and artists working in all media may apply.
This is part of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven's
work in strengthening its commitment to the Arts. There will
be a catalog for the exhibition. Artists will be selected
to participate based on concept and previous work. After preliminary
acceptance, artists are eligible to receive a door, and other
help in realizing their concepts. SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER

Playwrights Connecticut Heritage Productions
is now accepting submissions for its second annual “Connecticut
Stories on Stage” playwriting competition. The purpose
of this event is to encourage and foster new works for the
theater as well as to support the development of local artists.
Plays must be set in Connecticut and/or deal with a Connecticut-related
topic or personality in the past, present, or future. No musicals
will be accepted. Playwrights must be Connecticut residents
or students attending school in Connecticut. The competition
is divided into three categories: 10-minute play, one-act
play, and full-length play. Winners will receive financial
awards of $200, $300, and $500 respectively. Playwrights
may submit up to one play in each category. All entries must
be original, properly formatted, and postmarked no later than
November 1, 2010. Winners will be announced by February 1,
2011, and the winning works will receive a staged reading
at the annual “Connecticut Stories on Stage New Play
Festival” to be held in Middletown in Spring 2011. For
