Kwaku Kwaakye Obeng Band. Kwaku Kwaakye (Martin) Obeng from Ghana, West Africa, is a composer, master drummer, dancer and educator. He toured as a drummer and dancer with Ghana’s National Arts Council Folkloric Company and in 1981 relocated to the US where he joined the New England-based Talking Drum Ensemble. His ensemble performances marry traditional instruments and rhythm patterns with original compositions. Joining Obeng will be bassist Wes Brown; guitarist Domine Kanza; drummer Toma Fujiwara; trombonist Bill Lowe and saxophonist Jimmy Green. 7 pm. “Sing” a performance by Siggy Davis. Siggy Davis is a truly eclectic artist, having toured and recorded with jazz greats; portrayed numerous notable roles for the stage and in film; and performed musical theater repertoire including Nunsense, Hair, Butterfinger’s Angel, Beehive and Lets Pop. In 1996, Siggy released her first self-produced CD “Siggy Davis Live in Berlin.” She will be performing her interpretation of jazz and soul standards, a show tune or two and a blues medley. Noon. With an illustrious career spanning nearly three decades, Los Lobos is still creating new sounds and touring continuously, playing their unique blend of Tex-Mex, blues, country, ballads, folk and rock. The Fifth Dimension. A concert of all top hits by the famous group (inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002). Starship with Mickey Thomas. Mickey Thomas was the soaring voice of Jefferson Starship starting in 1979 with the #1 hit, Jane. Temptation Review with Dennis Edwards. One of two groups allowed to use the Temptations’ name, this one features singer Dennis Edwards, the Temptations since 1968, who has 14 gold albums, five Grammy’s, and has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The multi-award winning Motown group will perform a concert of top hits, including My Girl, Ain’t Too Proud to Beg, Papa Was a Rolling Stone and Just My Imagination. 7:30 pm.
