Audubon Arts on the Edge Comes to Audubon Street on
June 4!
On Saturday, June 4, from 12-5pm, families with children of
all ages will descend on Audubon Street (between Whitney Avenue
and Orange Street) for Audubon Arts on the Edge, an afternoon
of free, family-oriented music and dance performances, hands-on
arts-and-crafts activities, and interactive educational programs,
rain or shine. For a schedule of performances click
here.

For the 16th consecutive year, the Audubon Arts District celebrates
all that the neighborhood’s arts and educational institutions,
galleries, and retailers have to offer the Greater New Haven
community.
Several featured performers include the New Haven Ballet,
ACES Educational Center for Arts’ Latin Jazz Ensemble
and Little Big Band, National Drill Squad and Drum Corps,
Neighborhood Music School Suzuki Strings, Neighborhood in
Motion — An Interactive Dance Experience, Sharece Sellem’s
Artistik Xpressions, Don Wunderlee’s Punch & Judy
Puppet Show, and Tusuykusun Peru.
As has been tradition, Audubon Street itself will morph into
a concrete canvas on which artists of all ages will create
a meandering chalk mural. Children will also be able to make
music at the instrument petting zoo, create art on a giant
painting wall, and make useable art from recycled materials.
New this year, the New Haven Museum will offer interactive
colonial games for children. Other new activities include
hula hoop making, chair massages by Amadeus Wellness Center,
and appearances by the Elm City Market and Devil’s Gear
Bike Shop.
Audubon Arts on the Edge is organized by the Arts Council
of Greater New Haven, Creative Arts Workshop, ACES Educational
Center for the Arts, and Neighborhood Music School.
Audubon Arts on the Edge is sponsored by The Community Foundation
for Greater New Haven, Suzio York Hill, Pfizer, Kiducation
and Audubon Arts & Retail District. Additional funding
support comes from the Connecticut Commission on Culture &
Tourism, The Werth Family Foundation, Department of Cultural
Affairs (Mayor’s Community Arts Grant Program) and The
Ethel and Abe Lapides Foundation. Media sponsors are the New
Haven Advocate and Star 99.9.
We are always looking for volunteers to help out at the Edge.
If your available at any time that day, starting at 9 am for
set up, we would love to have you join us – it's a fun
time for all! Please contact Bobbi Griffith at bgriffith@newhavenarts.org
or call 772-2788 if you are interested in volunteering.
