Lecture: “Hot Dogs & the Great War” | May 19, 2 p.m. | The Knights of Columbus Museum

As U.S. soldiers and sailors deployed to Europe a century ago during World War I, they took with them their great American pastime--baseball. The game was not only a great source of morale for American Expeditionary Forces, but also served to develop rapport with allied troops

Commander David Kohnen of the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, R.I. will recount the WWI-era efforts of Admiral William Sims to form the Anglo-American Baseball League and the popularity the game enjoyed “Over There.”

The event is free and open to the public – and will include a hot dog lunch! The feature exhibition World War I: Beyond the Front Lines is on view until Dec. 30, 2018. More info here
