Wednesday night, the New Haven Pride Center and PRIDE New Haven hosted Drag on the Edge, a performance at Empire-Gotham Citi Cafe Nightclub in New Haven's Ninth Square Neighborhood celebrating the sheer breadth of drag as an art form. These images come from photographer and drag enthusiast Linda-Cristal Young, the senior house electrician at the Yale School of Drama and Yale Repertory Theatre. Drag artists included Chai, Ambrosia Black, Frankie M. Cyanide, Paxx Headroom, Glass Staine, Rory Roux Lay and Ram Shackle with music from DJ Ephraim Adamz (several of the performers have appeared in the pages of the Arts Paper; read more about here, here, and here). The event was hosted by Rhode Island-based drag artist Complete Destruction.

"Every style and form of drag is valid as performance art and we are bringing together some of Connecticut’s most incredible drag artists to showcase the vast variety of drag art," wrote the Pride Center of the event. "From edgy performances and political statements, to drag of many genders and expressions–drag can be anything and everything."
