STAY INFORMED

regarding possible executive orders aimed at non-profits

Dear advocacy community,

Last week, on Friday, April 18th, national legal defense organizations across the country convened a briefing call with 5,000 attendees to share updates about the many rumors regarding upcoming executive orders aimed at non-profits.

We do not know the date these orders may be released or their exact contents. It is also unlikely that arts non-profits will be among the initial targets of any such orders, but it's a good reminder to be vigilant and prepared.

We share this toolkit to inform, but also urge you to remain calm, strategic, and focused until we have more information.

Following the threats to non-profits like the Vera Institute, the ACLU and State Democracy Defenders Fund (in collaboration with several organizations) put together some resources for us:

  • Watch the recording of the briefing from Friday, April 18th, 2025 (only 30-min).

  • Review this legal guidance + resource document.

  • Sign this open letter that will be released by the State Democracy Defenders Fund when the EOs are released.

All of these resources are included in our toolkit (below), which we will continue updating as more information becomes available.
