CRITERIA
All applicants must live or work in Greater New Haven, as defined by the Arts Council's service area: Bethany, Branford, Cheshire, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Meriden, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Wallingford, West Haven, Woodbridge
Individual creatives with annual incomes under the United Way’s ALICE Household Stability Budget threshold:
- Practicing artists and creatives of any discipline
- Teaching artists
- Arts industry workers
Examples from the ALICE Household Stability Budget: under $42K for single adult, $67K for married couples, $112K for 2 adults w/2 school-aged children
Arts institutions with average annual budgets under $500,000:
- Nonprofit arts organizations
- Creative businesses
PROCESS
Applicants can request up to $500 in one of the following categories:
- Reimbursement for lost income (ex: canceled events or services, nonrefundable expenses)
- Compensation for an individual's reduced hours at arts or supplemental employment (ex: arts institution employees, part-time service industry staff)
- Investment in solutions that create work opportunities or new revenue (ex: new digital technology or expanded public health accommodations)
Applications are accepted anytime:
- The application should only take 5 minutes
- Please submit a thorough application
- Applications are reviewed weekly
- Funds are distributed immediately via Paypal (preferred) or check
- Applicants can only receive funds once per year, but can reapply if not awarded funds
- Individuals may need to claim these funds as income; consult a tax expert for details
