On Thursday night, Elm Shakespeare will open its signature summer show in Edgerton Park, bringing William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet to life for thousands of New Haveners.
The play, which is completely free to attend, runs from Aug. 17 through Sept. 1. For the first time in 22 years, the organization has enlisted a black director to help tell the story, Before the play's debut, WNHH Community Radio host and Inner-City News Editor Babz Rawls-Ivy sat down with Director Raphael Massie and Actor Gracy Brown to discuss the show, its current implications, and what they've learned from the production.
